A haiku a day keeps the plastic away

Claire Cox

Born and brought up around the jade-green waters of Hong Kong, Claire now lives in North Oxfordshire (yes, it’s pretty much the furthest you can get from the sea here in Britain!). She’s a part-time PhD student at Royal Holloway researching poetry and disaster, including the slow-motion disaster of pollution and climate change, and is truly excited to be part of this amazing odyssey. Most of the time she’ll be desk-bound ashore tracking Nick and Rebecca’s voyage on the beautiful Amelie Rose, but will hop aboard to join them for the last leg, even though she doesn’t speak a word of Sailor! In the meantime, she’ll use the power of poetry to record, reflect and communicate the progress of this fantastically important adventure and do everything she can to help #SaveOurSeas.
